This is a long term project photographing strangers on the Washington State Ferry System. I've been riding the ferry on and off for much of my life. This is my ode to the people and stories that make this everyday crossing unique.

On a solo scooter journey on Koh Lanta, I stopped in the mountains and bought some bananas from this woman, and after she saw me take an interest in her shop, where she sold gasoline, bananas, and coconuts, she offered me a chair and cut open a coconut to drink in the shade. Thanks to google translate we were able to share some details of our life stories.

Her petrol station.

She said she sells most of her bananas to the elephant sanctuary. I asked if I could photograph her portrait (through google translate) and she replied, "if I can take yours." So we gleefully took turns photographing each other, me with my camera, her with her phone.
